It'd be interesting to see if this meant new Bentley's using the new front-mid engine transaxle chassis from the new four door Maser.

What's in it for Maserati though??

Does this mean that the next Phaeton(if they make another one-they aren't the most popular car on the high-street)will be platform-sharing with the Quattropotre? Will the next Golf have boomerang lights? This just can't be true. This would make Maseratis reliable!

I just can't see, from the motorists' point of view, how this will help Maserati. Surely VW would take all of the style and Italianness away from this prestigious marque.

On the other hand, it could provide the financial stability that Maserati needs, and it needn't spoil the brand either, i.e. Audi taking over Lamborghini. I can't see it happening, but if it does, it would certainly be an important move for one of the most traditional and exotic car manufacturers ever.

Their tie in with Citroen had some interesting spin offs no reason why a new deal shouldn't be just as symbiotic.

A dose of VAG quality would be wonderful for the Massers.
