Z4 help!!

Ive got a 2003 Z4 and when I got in it today the hatch on the storage cubby behind / between the seats is stuck solid. (the one where the cd changer is). The release button itself wont even budge. Have also tried locking and unlocking using the button by the handbrake and also by pulling the emergency cord in the boot as hard as i dare. Have applied a reasonable amount of force but no joy and im not relishing the thought of starting to dismantle or snap trim off.

Anyone had or seen this before?
