Not sure if recommendations are frowned upon in this section, but as it is for a fellow PH'er I hope you don't mind. No connection other than satisfied customer. I am sure it will be moved if not appropriate.

Paul, AKA 'Glassman', who I called purely on the fact I had seen him on this and other PH forums offering some pretty sound advice re Windscreens.

Bottom line is, did me a very good deal, turned up on time and was a thoroughly nice bloke .. and took good care of my Jag X350 throughout. Completely the opposite of the previous windscreen company I had been told to use by my insurance company 3 months ago, probably shouldn't name them but the name starts in Auto & ends in Glass.

Anyway, Paul at Glasstek .. thank you very much, job well done.

Paid £175 for the supply and fit of a screen on my Suzuki Swift. Talking to the bloke, he said the screen actually cost them £55.

Fair mark up for 20mins labor.

I would pay a considerable amount of money not to use Autoglass - their constant, irritating, scare-mongering adverts are infuriating!!!

Mine is heated too. The price Autoglass charged my insurance company was a staggering £750 (plus VAT)

The one i had this morning was less than half of that.

It helps that I can reclaim the VAT, and I almost thought of getting a s/h screen at around £100 .. but after transport and fitting, it would have been cheaper but not much, or very convenient.

.. and driving to you, tools, etc

Lot of other jobs on a car you wouldn't get change from £200 from! And probably all easier jobs than a windscreen ..

How much do you think he/they should have charged?
