June 28th I think, for Endeavour?

Is it worth trying to be in Florida for this, or will it be a "farm"! Been pricing up Orlando area for 10 days, take little one to the parks, then go watch the launch?

Anyone done it? Is Shuttle launch worth the live experience?

I booked my last holiday for last September for what was supposed to be the last shuttle flight and they got cancelled, so be careful when you book.

I suspect it'll be a circus, and launches are always prone to delays, but it'll be a historic moment...

(Of course, Florida will be a sauna by the end of June...)

I've happened to be in Florida for a few launches. None were on the originally planned date though.

Even if you miss the launch I'm sure you will have a great holiday there anyway.

They are normally packed for miles around, i did hear somewhere on line that an estimated half million people will be clammering for a view in the areas around the launch site. Quite where the figures come from tho

I saw one a few years ago. I was back in Orlando, 55 miles away. You could still hear it as well as see it. I don't know why, but I had a tear in my eye - such an amazing achievement.

My parents took me when I was 7 to see the first shuttle launch, which was at the end of our Freddie Laker supplied holiday. Of course the launch was delayed by a couple of days so we missed it frown Had I seen the first, I would definitely be going to see the last frown

We saw Atlantis go up in 2007. Very emotional. Couple of things.
Launches do get delayed.
It is a zoo anywhere within 5 miles of the beach.
It took us 4 1/2 hours to get back to Orlando. Journey to the beach was 45 mins.
Would I do it again. Absolutely.
