World Anarchy ?
Discussion
Millions around the world are realising that with the power of the internet and the will of a counties people, that they can over throw their Governments /Dictators.
Surely the eventual knock on effects of all this chaos is going to be world oil shortages/exorbitant prices etc putting already frail economies into a spiralling free fall.
Am I seeing too much into what is happening around the world at the moment or do you feel that there is a very fine line being trod at the moment that could so easily descend into world Anarchy ?
My feeling is that we live in very worrying times.

The same can be said for various other periods throughout history. Civil war, both World Wars and Cold War spring to mind.
We're still here. I'm still adamant the biggest threat to the human race is the simple matter of overpopulation although most people seem very unconcerned which is rather worrying.

Yup, reckon so.
One of the problems we have been ignoring for a long time is that globally we have too many people chasing too few jobs. Watch out for a resurgence of thinking along the lines of E. F. Schumacher's intermediate technology concepts.
Much better for most societies to have lots of low-paid jobs about the place than just a few high-paid jobs, and much better to have no benefits than generous allowances. No one should be prevented from being able to contribute to society, and no one should benefit without making a contribution.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for people standing up for theirselves and fighting for their freedoms.
As Wolfie once said "POWER TO THE PEOPLE"

It's the inevitable and far-reaching destabilisation if all the oppressed try the same thing at once that worries me.

Hmm, is there a vegetarian haggis option on the menu?
Then, the indigenous V8 manufacturing industry?
Or, is it welders out and spaceframes rule?
It is the Politicians we need to change. We have wierdo career Politicians now rather than men and women who are experienced in the world. All our great leader came to Politics after having a life the thought of the likes of Milliband and Cameron just make you cringe with sadness. What we need now is real leaders sadly I can't think of one.
I am afraid we are getting what we deserve.
Where is the easy money, easy life, plenty of power, very little control limit, celebrity lifestyle, lots of travelling in great hotels and private jets most easily found in Britain today?
Politics
Where can upstarts with no experience of real life, easily slide into secure, fleshy, safe, jobs with real promotion potential as soon as they leave University without the pain of actually having a job that requires any effort, congregate?
Politics
Where can an individual fiddle their expenses, lose their seat because of the voting backlash, be offered an immediate, safe, secure, celebrity film and documentary career with no experience of either? Except possibly watching films.
YES be sacked as Home Secretary voted out and make am immediate career in Television?
ONLY IN POLITICS
Its going from bad to worse and when we have a choice of Cameron and Osborne or Milliband and Balls there is no hope for the country.
The cult of Celebrity and the ease with which 'celebrities' are sliding from Politics to the Media and back says it all.
Who has the inflation proof pensions, world book sales world tours etc etc
Tony Blair Gordon Brown Cherie Blair Sarah Brown. Yes Politics

When the money you're paid no longer buys enough food to live on, then revolution is but a few missed meals away.
What's the figure? 60% of the population of the planet spends 90% of their income on the food they need to merely survive...? Where as in the UK we spend just 10% of our income on the food we need. Something like that. Put the price of basic food up 20% and you have an angry population.

And yet, no revolution in Zimbabwe despite inflation in the '000s of percent...When the money you're paid no longer buys enough food to live on, then revolution is but a few missed meals away.

I suppose there's two answers to this one.1. Quite complicated politics
2. Inflation is 3.2%

what is it in the UK again?

Zimbabwe's annual inflation eased to 3.2 percent for the month of December, down from the November rate of 4.2 percent, the national statistics agency said Tuesday.
"The year-on-year inflation for the month of December 2010 as measured by the all-items Consumer Price Index stood at 3.2 percent, shedding one percentage point on the November rate of 4.2 percent," the Zimbabwe Statistical Agency said in a statement.
The agency attributed the drop to falling prices in the food, transport and communications sectors.
The month-on-month inflation rate in December was -0.4 percent, down from the November rate of 0.5 percent, the agency said.
Zimbabwe's inflation has fallen dramatically in the last two years since the formation of a coalition government that ditched the inflation-ravaged local currency in favour of the US dollar.
The last official estimate of inflation in Zimbabwe dollars in 2008 was 230 million percent, but independent experts said the real figure was in the billions.
So low inflation (now) purely because they threw away their currency and went to USD "The year-on-year inflation for the month of December 2010 as measured by the all-items Consumer Price Index stood at 3.2 percent, shedding one percentage point on the November rate of 4.2 percent," the Zimbabwe Statistical Agency said in a statement.

We could do the same, but I'm not sure it would be helpful...Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
