Ive currently got 3 different types of tyres on my Ignis sport from when i baught it, the two fronts are truly terrible budget tyres and theres a Yokohama and some other on the back, i want all four courners matching so what should i go for i dont realy want to spend any more than about £55 each bear in mind the Ignis is quite light

Id rather sacrifice a bit of grip to get better feel so what 2 choices (first and second best) would you recommend from this list http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m53b0s...

Assuming the wheels are sutible. Much cheaper to 195/50's than 185/55's.

Same size as a 205 GTI 1.9. Common for people to fit 195/50 instead as similar rolling radius but as others have said they are much cheaper.

I used to use ContiPremiumContact2s in that size on my old Clio.
They were a decent tyre. thumbup

Had T1-Rs on the S2000 - squishy sidewalls but good grip and very good wet performance. Feedback not quite as good as others, and the squishy sidewalls robbed a little precision from the steering (S2000 had it to lose, not sure about the OP's car).

Had Conti-2s (now -3s) on the wife's GTi and they're very good all-rounders - expensive, but wear very well - rears have lasted 27k now and we've got through ~1 and 3/4 sets of fronts (-2s weren't new when bought and just changed fronts back to Conti after only 12k out of 2 (even more expensive) F1-Asymmetrics), even with some of my driving! biggrin

Out of the rest, I always rate Bridgestone - never the best in the wet or the outright grippiest in the dry, but always score well in both regards and give good feedback and consistent performance. Have RE040's on the front of the NSX, and they're not bad, but not as good as the -050As on the back.

So given the sidewall size I'd go for Conti's as first choice, B'stone as 2nd. Avoid the Hankook V12's - mediocre in the dry, good in the wet, a liability in snow/ice.

These are my favourite 'budget' tyres I think they are excellent. seem to have quite still side walls.

0nly do 195/45 though from camskill not sure if other places have them in your exact size or if 195 will fit.

Never used Falkens. Know the 452 is considered a good 'cheaper' alternative to the Pilot Sports on the E46 M3, but that's a different tyre.

Have you visited the tyre-reviews website? (not sure if hyphen is in the address)

I have falkens on both my cars.

Really didnt like them at first. They have grown on me but there is some vagueness on turn in which I don't like. I guess they have not very stiff side walls.

Grip good and last ok just nothing special in my opinion.

I preferd federal 595 ss They were fantastic on the mondeo ST

Tyres are very subjective though I think.

Kumho KU31's are excellent tyres for their price so another vote for them from me if your on a budget. Only problem I found is getting hold of them in smaller sizes. 15 inch should be ok but my car has 14 inch 185/55 and their virtually impossible to get hold of!

I had khumo on my mx5, sidewall are too soft. Need to pump them up to 40psi to have decent feel and it doesnt affect the odd tyre wear at that high PSI.

Stick with 185/55/15. If you go to 195/50/15 they're -8.5mm in diameter and will look tiny. The next size up to keep the diameter is 205/50/15 but they would be monster on small wheels.

Have been going through this for a while with my old Man in choosing tyres for the Mother's new car.
