Hi all.

I'm sure this has been asked before, so sorry in advance (I did search, but couldn't find much). Anyway:

I've been browsing for smaller sized chronos (i.e. under 40mm). Doesn't seem to be a huge amount about, even vintage ones tend to be fairly large.

I've seen an Omega Dynamic chrono I like the look of; also an Oris auto chrono 7480

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Oris-Auto-Chrono-model-7480-...

Any thoughts on those, or alternatives (say £500 ish max)?

My boss has a Speedmaster reduced. Looks under 40mm to me.

My brothers Speedmaster is 38mm. It's one of those fancy red Schumacher types.

For an old cheapy have a look at Baylor, Lator or Rotary Aquaplunge, the manual winders are about 38mm.

Spotted a Sinn 756 on ebay - not too large, are they. smile

Unfortunately I've done hardly any purchases/sales on ebay, so my minimal feedback meant that the seller wouldn't accept any of my bids. frown

I've got an Onega Dynamic Chrono.... nice watch. I've got it on a strap (like e non Chrono version) at present. Has two movements on top of each other, so make sure everything works asmapparently it can be expensive to fix.

Not seen another "in the wild" and a surprising number of people comment on it.

Some good suggestions, thanks chap.

Any opinions on the Oris Chronograph (older ones - I presume they were Big Crown chronos?)?

Think they're about 40mm dia, so a little bigger, but for £500ish they look good value. Anyone got one?

An Oris chrono is on its way to me!

Approx 40mm dia, so not small, but nor Flavor Flav either.

Was within my budget, and I think I'm gonna be v pleased. I'll post photos and proper response when I get it.

(An Oris Big Crown was actually the first auto I bought, 10 or so years ago. I didn't keep it long, but my appreciation of watches has changed since then.)

My early generation TAG F1 Chronograph is much smaller than either the current ones or many others available.

Not sure of the size though.

Don't know if it's small enough, but I like the 40mm Panerai Luminor Chrono.

Seagull 1963 reissue is stealthing up my want list.

You could buy one of them, hate it, and then punt it off to me, much cheapness thank you kindly.

Oris arrived this morning! biggrin

Very pleased, too. My first chronograph, and I'm glad with my choice. Measures about 38mm dia (smaller than advertised), so pleased with that as well!

Ps I can't seem to upload an image at the mo - it just says ...iframe loading... - perhaps cos I wiped my harddrive the other day and haven't put all the software back on?

Pps I've found I can't photo a watch to save my life: flash on, flash off, lights on, lights off, can't focus in properly, etc etc. Don't think my digital camera is up to the job. Perhaps I should read the How To Photograph Watches thread...
