Quick warning to potential purchasers

Hi all, after many years of griff ownership including great fun at the growl and meets etc, I sold my griffith a few months ago. My car was a 500 in halcyon hebrides (black with green met) K3MNB with black leather. The reason that i sold the car was the following: outriggers shot (drivers front), rad holed, cam noisey, heavy chipping and body cracks, also very clunky drive train. This car is by no means past saving but did need alot of time and money thrown at the old girl. I sold the car for a very good price with this in mind and the purchaser was aware. If this work has been done then she will be a great car as the rest was all good and is a great colour combination. She was totaly reliable for me for the last 15,000 miles and was always well serviced but age was getting the better of her. I am no way bitter about anybody making money on any of my previous cars and as I sold it for more than I paid for it - why would I be? This post is just a heads up and has no malice towards anybody.

It appears that Fernies currently have the car for sale Blues. Without doubt for a lot more than the op sold for, I also have no doubt that the problems have been rectified having had nothing but good experiences with Fernies myself and having looked at a number of their cars in the past before finally purchasing
mine from them nearly 3 years ago.
Yes they tend to ask top prices for their cars, but the standard of their stock is also top quality from my experience.
May I add that in no way do I have any interest in the company whatsoever. Just my opinions from my dealings with
them.

I saw this car at a dealer for iirc £6k less than it is now. Only had a quick look but can't recall loads of chips, didn't have any sort of look at the chassis. This was months ago so the op was obviously keen to tell everyone 
To be honest I wouldn't have bought the car from the dealer it was at at the time, he was a complete nob jockey, who was only interested telling me how much the car should be!!

This post is just a heads up to help any person looking for a Griff. As i said the car would make a great purchase providing all was done. I have had 2 calls a few weeks ago when it was for sale at another garage and gave no view to the condition as i felt it was not my place to. Since one has called me back thanking me for use of his time and fuel. As I am sure we are all aware you enter TVR ownership with your eyes open very OPEN... As gizzer said buyer beware.

OP I'm still not sure what the objective of the post is, however it does come across rather badly and quite bitter.
It seems as though you had a car, didn't maintain it properly and let it go to ruin, have sold it to a dealer, they are going to fettle it and sell it for a profit (and why woudn't they) - and you seem to be attempting to warn people off buying it. That's what it sounds like to me. All IMO of course

The way I read it is as follows:
The OP sold the car at a price he thought fair having declared the known problems.
The car is now at a dealers asking what appears to be an above average amount for it bearing in mind the problems it had when he sold it. He has no idea whether or not the car has now had those problems corrected, however, two potential purchasers have contacted him prior, to visiting the dealer, to ask about the car's condition/history.
The OP has declined to give any information to the dealer's potential customers as he does not know the current condition of the car. One of the potential purchasers has gone to some trouble to view the car at the dealer's premises and considers that it is not in a condition that they would expect considering the asking price.
This potential purchaser then contacted the OP complaining that he should have told them what condition the car was in when he sold it so that they would not have wasted their time etc going to view a car which turned out to be not in the condition they hoped it would be, perhaps even still in the same condition as when the OP sold it.
So, I think the purpose of the OP's post was to openly state the condition of the car when he sold it so that anyone now going to view the car will have some idea of what it's condition was, or still is.

t and wasn't even worth the £15495 the first dealer wanted for it. You need to realise this car was for sale ages ago, Fernies have sat on this for a long time. Why has the op waited so long to cough?ray von said:

As far as I can tell he is trying to help people out, if the work has been done it will be very obvious for someone looking as the key points have already been pointed out.

Newbie here, just registered and just returned to TVR ownership after a gap of approx. 10 years, so first post. Guess what car I've returned to TVR ownership with...... Yep K3 MNB in halcyon hebrides.
Saw this thread just before going to pick it up. Anyway it looked immaculate so definitely repainted. Had new rad. Chassis elements all looked excellent too. After drawing this thread to their attention Fernies insisted on putting up on the ramp for me to look around before I drove it away - not that I'd be an expert at looking at such things anyway but looked sound as a bell. No sign on driving of any other issues either. So all I need is some decent weather to tempt me and it out of the garage to see if it will fall to pieces.
OP typo in your initial post? All MOT records (online and in the flesh) etc would suggest you drove it about 5,000 not 15,000 during your ownersip.
