Morning all.

Iv updated my TV to the panny vt50" 3D, in now moved on to updating the layout of the lounge. Using a spare room Im location all clutter (DVD player, ps3, pc tower) out of site. This will allow me to put the TV on the wall, passing the cables from the spare room into the back of the TV. Giving the affect of being no clutter in the lounge.

The Question is if I buy the panny SC-PT480 (cheap but powerful) will all this clever VIERA stuff allow me to turn the volume up and down with my normal panny TV remote. Therefore, avoiding having 2 remotes and an inferred extender.

I believe that's the point of Viera Link so I guess the question is does your SC-PT480 support Viera Link?

Should be alright then. I don't think it works with a PS3 so you'll have to make sure the controllers are within range!

It turns the ps3 on and the tv remote gives me basic ps3 control. I'm hopping this is all via VIERA. Sadly the number pad on the remote doesn't work on the ps3 or writing would be very much like txting. Not the best thing but better than the ps3 default way.

O/T but only slightly. Interesting thread. My (viera capable) remote for the BD80 controls the volume on my very aged Panasonic home theatre, the G20 TV remote controls the BD80 no problems so potentially only 1 remote needed. But. The G20 remote won't control the volume on the old home theatre, I'm guessing something to do with a confusion between controlling the volume on the TV and the Home theatre?

Any ideas chaps?

Yes, the TV and Bluray are so no probs there, but the remote for the Bluray also worked the home theatre - which is pre-viera by some way.

Im guessing that the BD80 remote controls your aged cinima kit via I/R. The G20 controls the BD80 via I/R also, but for the TV to adjust the volume on the cin kit then they both have to have Veira link and normally connected with a HDMI lead and an optical if one of the devices dosent support ARC. (most panna remotes have basic functionality for other devices pre programmed into them)

Back to the original question, the answer is YES wink

Its also worth noteing that anyone with a SKY+ remote or a SKY HD remote then this can be programmed to change the volume on your cinima kit ASWELL as your TV volume. So if your pre-vierra linky then this is another route you could take.

Sky... Now that is a hole new world and anther controller to have cluttering up my lounge. If the panny remote would control sky aswell, I would get it. Is it that much to ask that all the tvs etc would work on the same "waves". Tvs are a bit old hack. I'm shocked the remotes arnt Bluetooth yet.
