Doesn't sound right to me, but that's what Sky representative is telling me, ie that it can receive BBC HD, ITV1 HD, C4 HD, FIVE HD and LUXE TV HD. Can anyone confirm? TIA

That's what I suspected, I'm talking to 'Flossy' through live chat, thought it didn't sound right. Suppose the only option is to take the Sky+ HD package then cancel it after a year.

It might be able to receive them, but it can't decode them.

Not Necessarily.

If by Standard Sky+ box your talking about the old generation 'White' Sky+ boxes then no.

But if your talking about a standard Sky+ Box as a new customer then yes, It will work. Last year sky Discontinued the old-style PVR3 Sky+ boxes in favour of sticking to just the PVR5 (New Generation) HD+ box - So anyone who orders 'Sky+' now gets a Sky+ HD box without the HD subscription. You then get all the 'free' HD channels.

Atleast thats how it used to work when i was installing sky, It's exactly the setup i have.

I don't know if it could or not but a standard sky+ box doesn't have an HDMI out so what's the point?

Yes? And...?

The standard Sky+ Box is a Sky+HD box (PVR5/6?) and has been for circa 12months or so. So yes as the Sales Representative states, The Standard Sky+ box can and does receive and display HD pictures.

The old generation Sky+ box (The PVR1/2/3) does not.

Hmmm, maybe I was a bit hard on 'Flossy' then, thought she was telling a load of sh*te ! So , £35.75 for line rental, all calls, broadband lite, and non-subscription Sky might not be too bad.
