Once the stitching has started ot go it will only continue as it usually signlas it's rotten, so in essence the whole lot needs replacing, so while you're there you should replace the whole plastic section.
I use Gary Creasey @ http://www.hoodsandtrims.co.uk/ and many other have. I found him fantastic to chat/work with and his work is absolutely first class.

I asked a similar question a little while back when mine cracked slightly. As you can see the issue has become worse since then. I really must get around to sorting this out!

Hi I reckon £150 to £200 as well. I used James Allitt http://www.jdatrimmingservices.co.uk/ for a recent refurb (carpets and new hood) did a good job and helpful friendly service too.

Cheers Dave, that is 2 recommendations for Hoods Galore now and you are right they are very close to where I live. Perhaps it is time I swapped the gaffa tape for a new window.Hockley

I seem to remember seeing a Griff / Chim with a removable window... it isn't a bad shout at all. I would just be a little concerned with how it would look.No problem, I doubt very much you'll be dissapointed.
I'm meticulous when it comes to other people working on my car and having just had a full respray I was more than a little anxious to ensure afterwards that there wasn't a mark on it.
Gary did full carpets, replace if required the boot carpet and full roof for me and did each of the modifications I asked him for (longer passenger mat for revised battery box etc) and did an outstanding job of both roof and carpets and there wasn't a single mark on the paintwork anywhere. In fact he commented that the boot carpet was in good enough condition and simply cleaned and restuck it all down for me, which saved not an insignificant sum off the bill.
A real professional, pragmatic and bloody nice bloke.

This is where a zip out screen would be great as its hard to get all the creases out when its down, even in the hottest weather. Not sure how it would look but did think about it when we had the 500's replaced, as you'd be able to zip it out and lay it flat when dropping the mullet.
Don't drop the mullet in the cold weather at all, but would be good to on some sunny, icy days like today.

I am just using standard Gaffa Tape. I do have to re-apply every time I have the roof down as it does not survive folding the roof window. I have applied it on the outside and inside and it roof has to be 100% for it to stick.
I am hoping to have the money together to get it fixed next month.
I do like the new tam roof but I did a test this week when I was driving mine down the motorway with the roof on and if you look over you right shoulder it does give you a fantastic view of your blindspot through the side of the hood window. To be fair though the car is very rarely on the motorway and very rarely with the roof up.
