Having read through many threads here, it looks like I am heading down the bike engined with a preference to fireblade as I am looking for fun with a budget. I live only 20 minutes from a track so light road use only.
Any particular kit I should be looking at, I know this could open a can of worms so maybe the question should be any kit to avoid. I am looking in the classified for a good reliable bit of fun for under £8k.

I am mechanically able although its been a while. I see some for sale with 17" wheels, I would have thought this would have been a disadvantage, tyre cost higher gearing (more load on transmissions) although depends on final drive ratio.

Thanks in advance for any advice, remember I am a tight Scotsman........

You'll be wanting a Sylva (or one of the Fisher/RAW derivatives) then.

An £8k budget will get you a number of BEC trackday chargers that are road legal. I depends if you want a 7 type or a Fury/Phoenix type car?

Classified's here are good and some of the specialist mags and websites.

Buy one ofr less and tweek it to your spec would be my recommendation. Tyres, supension setup and a healthy engine / Rollcage.

Hope that helps

Sounds like a good idea.

For a smigin over £8k I'd have a look at Ryans red Fury R1 in the classifieds. I have toured Europe in the company of that car, it was 100% reliable and has lots and lots of goodies on it. Not a budget build and one of the best. You will get a lot of BEC with your money, and you should be looking into other quality components like brakes, LSD, suspension, digital displays etc as there are some very nice cars out there. You have more than enough cash there to bag a very very nice car.

Not for sale anymore but would be worth looking at other furys. Put it this way, I can't believe I wanted to sell mine. Need my head checking.

I was looking for a similar thing for a slightly larger budget, but couldn't find anything worth having. Ended up with an Elise in the end!
