I've finally got rid of my flat-mate but he's taken his TV with him. I've got a 10 year old 20" CRT TV that isn't really up to the job! His TV was 32" which was perfectly fine but occasionally felt a little small in the living room.

I'm looking to spend circa £400-£450 on a TV, preferably 37"-42". What are the suggestions these days. Oh, I work for John Lewis so something they sell would be great (discount) - but looking on their website there aren't that many in my budget.

ETA: I'm planning on getting surround sound in a few months once the budget fits - so any recommendations for that would be great too - c. £200?

If you were lucky, a new Panasonic TX-42C3B might just fall off the back of a waggon.

I had thought something like that would be out of my budget. Plasma is better @ 40" and upwards as I understand. Interesting...

Check out www.richersounds.com/

Always cracking deals on there and for (i think) 10% of the cost price of whatever you spend, they will give u a 5 year extended warranty.

I've dealt with them numerous times and had not one issue. Any faults (if any) are rectified without any issues.
