Just thought Id start this one on a rainy Friday evening ! Anyone out there with a 350i ( who has had their car on a rolling road ) found that the power output on their car has exceeded TVRs 190-197 BHP output claim.( My old 1988 350 certainly did.) Anyone else found the same ?

Depends on the rolling road. scratchchin

You can be sure of that every engine is different.

One of the wonders of Wedges. biggrin

You can be sure that every rolling road is also different

+, it depends on how much he loads the rollers brake.

If they really wish to play with figures they can make your engine produce whatever number they want confused

Not on a wedge but when I had another car rolling roaded the operator told me that he could make it read 400bhp on the rollers for me to take a photo of for Bullstting purposes lol

We calibrate radiation detecting instruments and if there has to be an error, we always make sure it's reading on the high side.
To be fair, if you think there's more radiation than there actually is, you're not going to stand there, are you wink

lol!

I think the best way is just to test out your vehicle's performance on the REAL road against as many similar models as possible.

Those of us who've driven fleet cars or vans...supposedly the same spec, will know that they can be so different in performance and handling.

It's only about 60 quid for a R/R session though, if you really want to be disappointed...and they might even tell you where the likely hiding place is of all those escaped horses. biggrin

I love the analogy at the bottom of that page..10/10..laugh

think about the young bull who remarked to an older bull, "Look! There are some moos down there in the meadow! Let's run down and sort a couple of them out" to which the older bull replied "Nah! Let's walk down and do the lot! Otherwise, you'll never know how much fun you coulda had!"

Suppose there are many factors including the type of road, type of day and what has been done to the motor and is there a y in the name of the day for a good reading.

Slightly related on power. I did find this interesting was during the runway runs at Duxford many moons ago, what passed what or what kept up or could not pass xyz etc or in the case of the Cerbs, what warp speed they could attain. This was in a good mix of the marque including cars from all the way back. Especially if you had a gaggle of V8's going for it. Quite close really for some, I assumed that was down to the driver?

A fun way of testing the performance of your car is to go to a drag race 'run wot u brung' meet, and for normally about 30 quid entry you can have several runs up the strip, and receive a printout of all your times and speeds achieved. No special licence or anything needed.

Result: a realistic picture of how your car performs against other machinery of all types... on the road.

Of course there is skill involved, but no more than in a normal traffic lights grand prix. smile
