DVLA clamped car

A friends car has been clamped by DVLA for no TAX.

The cars unregistered no mot or tax. It was moved out the drive for 5 mins and it got clamped lol.

This was 3 weeks ago, why havent they removed the car yet?

Hes happy for it to be crushed.

I imagine it's a bit of a shock tactic and they expect most people to ring up the next day, stump up whatever the fine is and re-tax the car. By not being bothered, your friend has made them all confused and now a whole office full of people at the DVLA are totally stumped and trying to work out what the hell to do with the damned thing.

My sons car got clamped by the DVLA for no tax, in spite of having a tax disk displayed. The previous owner had somehow reclaimed the tax 3 months after they sold it. They did unclamp it after a lot of pissing around, producing insurance, lo9gbooks and foot stamping.

Government, computer databases, sub-contract clampers, a wonderful combination...

Leave the clamp on.Phone local scrap man and tell him to come and collect car,scrap is through the roof at the moment and even cars are around £200 per ton.

Cut clamp off, wait for them to return & clamp, rinse and repeat. Earning you £5 a time in scrap from the clamp.

In which case, if there's no follow up of prosecution, and the car is fit for scrapping anyway, they've done pretty well out of it!

They will (rightly) say...it was on the road, unregistered, no mot or tax.

What else do you expect them to say?

Get someone with a tow truck to move it round the corner and play a game of hide and seek See how long it takes them to find it, if they ever do.

I'd be stripping it down and selling anything that was worth selling, then get a scrappy to clear up everything else bar the wheel with the clamp on.

Problem is the neighbour hood is in the neighbours would certainly be making a lot of complaints etc

Since its only fit for scrapping, cut off whatever the clamp is attached to then have the rest of the car scrapped and leave the clamp + wheel at the side of the road, out of the way.
