Hi,
I've had my car for a few weeks now and have had no problems with the CD changer until today. It was working fine with CD's in the first 2 slots but this morning I added an extra 3 CD's (6 CD capacity I think) and it couldn't get them to play. I then took the original 2 CD's out and moved the 3 new ones to the first 3 slots. Now the changer won't spit the CD holder out (it doesn't make any noise at all) and the tape player in the front constantly says 'CD 0-'. If you try pressing one of the buttons on the head unit to select another disk it says 'no disk' on the display.
Is this a case of resetting something or does it sound like it needs replacing (if so, does anyone know any good auto electric shops in Herts)?
Thanks,
Tom

Had the same thing.
One of the cd's is not sitting right in the catridge.
Slid a ruler down the side of the cartridge in the cd changer and pushed to make sure all 6 cd's
were all back in the cartidge and pressed eject.
Cartridge then popped out and everything was back to normal.

Which side of the cartridge did you slide the ruler down?
Now that I think about it, I did change them over in a bit of a rush...

I can't quite remember the issue but I had a problem with the standard fit changer in my mini, it was quite simple to strip down and reassemble.

I should imagine BMW use the same units across the range so it might be worth getting the screw drivers out if you don't have any luck with the ruler mate.

Sorry for delay in getting back to you. Its down the right side!
If you look with a torch, down the right hand side of the cartridge, you will see where the discs are taken into the cd itself. You should see that one of the cd's is not sitting back into the cartridge itself, so by placing a ruler in between the cartridge and unit and easing the cd back into the cartridge should then enable you to eject it from the changer.

Hope this helps a bit more!

Thanks Joreco, I'll give it a go in the morning.
Gunk - how easy is it to fit something like that to the standard head unit?

A doodle on the E46, it just replaces the auto changer. You get track lists, complete functionality off the head unit and the iPod is wired into the glovebox and charges
