Guys, just a quick question.

I understand that you are now only able to register one name on a V5 document.

I have joint ownership of a car with a friend. Having one of us on the V5 is fine, however the concern is that for jaunts into Europe (where taking the V5 is recommended as proof of ownership) depending on which one of us is using the car, the V5 will not record that driver is the registered owner. Both names will obviously be on the insurance.

Any comments or suggestions? Or am I being too wary?

Thoughts of being pulled over by the intimidating Gendarmes or Spanish police and having my pride and joy confiscated are running through my mind!!

Regards.

So long as your name is on the insurance document with his, there shouldn't be a problem.

The V5 has bugger all to do with ownership, which is why V5s these days state that in a big box on the front.

The V5 says who the registered keeper is. This has sod all to do with who owns the car.

Thank you!

Although this (http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/overseas/general_advice.html) suggests that a letter of Authority would be prudent.

Although to be honest I wouldn't want to rely on a single signed scrappy sheet of A4 but i suppose if push came to shove, little alternative.
