I can remember someone at Stoneleigh saying something about a headliner in a hardtop they used to have, does anyone know how this would be fixed?
i was thinking of spraymounting the carpet i bought at the show to the inside of my hardtop as it is fairly flexible and should provide a little more soundproofing and luxury (not usually associated with a jago i know!)
Also, Ian do you know if the company who produces your bonnet hinges(i forget their name) has a website?

The company we usually advise to call re the Stainless steel bonnet hinges is Emsworth Car & Cycle.
As far as I am aware (unless they have done so recently) they do not have a web site.
Their phone number is 01243 372742
There is no reason why you should not be able to glue carpet to the inside of your hard top. Some people use vinyl or headlining material but as you say the carpet should provide some degree of sound proofing.

Shame I wasn't able to make Stoneleigh.

THE BEST £15 I EVER SPENT...

My black 1600 had the old style bonnet hinges (Hillman Imp???) which were well past their best. I'd drilled them and put stainless bolts through but on reflection that was a waste of time. It occurred to me that the noisiest thing on the car was the rattly bonnet.
So I spent £11.50 with Emsworth (£8.50 + p&p) on the stainless hinges they supply and some more on 8of 25mmxM6 stainless bolts, nyloc nuts and "penny" washers and the difference is amazing. It's surprising what you get accustomed to and only realise the difference when it stops.
What's the next thing I should spend £15 on???
Cheers
Ian

Thanks, Yes its a shame you werent at Stoneleigh.
I think ill get onto Emsworth for those hinges, at first i was reluctant at the idea of taking my hillman hinges off as i think they look really good, but you are right Ian, i have to stop the bonnet rattling! and the Emsworth ones certainly look hardwearing.
