mine lives outside all the time
i have a monsoon car cover ,it has pockets for the mirrors to fit into
never had a problem with the paintwork ,left it for months
think cost new around £140 got mine of ebay for£60
takes about 5 mins to fit

My TVRs lived outside for a few years. I had a half cover that I put over the cabin area if I was leaving it unused for a long time during winter, but otherwise I just treated it like any normal car. Dampness was always a bit of an issue during winter, but regular daily use with long enough trips to dry it out helped keep that at bay - occasionally I resorted to silica gel packs during rainy spells. I would avoid using full car covers on a regular basis because I'd be concerned about the cover rubbing against the paintwork. I've also heard horror stories about paint lifting after moisture got trapped under the cover, but never suffered that myself. I suppose a breathable cover shouldn't have that problem. I'd still worry about it flapping about and scratching the paintwork, though.
My V8S lived outside for around 8 years.
The car had a good quality breatheable cover when I bought it but as I used the car daily I didn't often use the cover. The car now is suffering from some patches of delamination of the lacquer on the edges of the boot lid. Thinking back this could have been due to the fact that in a heavy frost, when the cover was a bit damp, it occasionally froze to the paintwork - most noticeably on the bootlid.
I've been lucky with my car - it's dry inside and any leaks that have materialised (eg after changing the door/roof seal|) were easily fixed with sealer.

Good friend of mine keeps his AC Brookland Ace (similar to this one)
In a carcoon which has its own pumped airflow etc
But when he got it out last week found the hood and most of the interior covered in green mould, so even purpose built protection can sometimes be ineffective.
if it has to be outside then a car port or something to keep the rain off (and hopefully) keep it dry inside but with exposure to air flow would be he best option or use it everyday
