Hey all,

So I have bought a new car (leon cupra) which I collect next week - hurrah! Sadly the time has come to sell the mk2 golf, and someone came over earlier who wants to drive it away tomorrow. My mk2 policy runs out in 7 days, but i cant cancel it before then because else i wont pick up my ncb for the year. If i sell the mk2 tomorrow and let the bloke driveaway (with it still with 7 days insurance left on my policy) would I by liable if anything happened in those 7 days? Tried phoning insurance company but, as per usual, the call centre was just impossible to get any useful information out of.

Could you just change it over to the Leon tomorrow ?

Although I have left insurance running on old car just after selling and before getting hold of new car, no issues.

I'd imagine it wouldn't be an issue. You'll just still be insured to drive the car. (my take on it)

Just swap your current policy from the golf to the leon.

Just the same if you did it half way through the year. They may charge you a little to do it as an admin fee or as the new cars a higher risk than the old car.

Just let it lapse at the end. Watch the insurer doesnt have it on "auto renew"...

Isn't it usually forbidden to have the same car insure on more than one policy though?
