Anyone seen either of these shows? I've heard there pretty good and need a new series to watch now that i've nearly finished my second run of The Wire!

West Wing is excellent. I never stuck with it till the end, got to series 4 i think. Martin Sheen as president Bartlett is superb, the rest of the cast is good aswell. It did actually help me to understand american polictics a bit, although sometimes it can be hard to follow. There are a few episodes that will have you gripped, really emotional stuff. Other boxsets i have watched and liked are The Sopranos, Brotherhood, True blood, The pacific and Prison break.

Frankly, anything broadcast by HBO has quality stamped all over it.

The West Wing is superb, but it's a bit more episodic than the Wire, ie self contained stories with an arc behind. So you'll get the odd self contained ep that has no bearing on the wider story.

Definitely worth watching, though.

I can't speak for 6' Under, though - never watched it.

I watched the first couple of series of Six Feet Under when they were first shown on C4 a few years ago, it's pretty good from what I remember with some very dark humour. Not as good as the likes of The Wire or The Sopranos but very watchable.

Six feet under is being broadcast on Sky Atlantic at the moment. It's quite good and the humour is quite dark.

I'd recommend arrested development , which is also being shown from the 1st series on Sky

The West Wing is one of the best series ever made. It's brilliant. All the characters are great and it blended serious issues with some real laugh out loud moments.

One of the few series I have complete on DVD.

Can't comment on six feet under as I've never seen it.

West Wing is the best tv programme I've ever seen, especially the episode mentioned above. Utterly fantastic.

West Wing, [comic book guy]Best series ever.[/comic book guy]

Stick with it though, series one and two are first class, but it tails off a little in the middle series, not to say it is bad, still better than anything else on TV, just not as good as some of the earlier and later series.

If you enjoyed The Social Network you'll love it, Aaron Sorkin had a hand in both and it has a similar fast-paced, lots of dialogue feel.

Have watched all seven series twice now and haven't found anything else that comes close.
