Ive been thinking of a new 'vanity' road bike/frame for ages

I have no strong thoughts other than the usual Cervelo/S-works/Madone/Wilier etc etc stuff and to be honest didnt see the point of spending that kind of money as my own bike is absolutely fit for purpose

Until I discovered Canyon that is
The recent Cervelo court case has only made my curiosity worse

Have any of you got a Canyon or do you have any rational or otherwise thoughts on them?
Whats the catch

Cheers

Can't say I've ever seen one out on the road but they're good enough for Omega Pharma Lotto so they must be pretty good!
I say go for a test ride on one, not that I think I've ever even seen one in a bike shop mind!

I've got an Ultimate Pro which I bought as a frameset in 2008. I went for the Canyon as they are stunning value for money when you compare them to cervelo's, pinarellos, colnagos etc. It is everything I was looking for - light, stiff and a little different from all the Treks and Specs that you see on the roads. Unfortunately I've had chronic knee problems for the last 2 years so mine has had very little use, but i did race on it for a few months when I first got it.

One of my clubmates had one and he had a few issues with the front mech hanger and bottle bosses which meant it had to be sent back to Germany for repairs - something worth considering when you buy direct.

You would be welcome to test ride mine if you are anywhere near me (Surrey) and need a 60cm frame!

edit: just read your username and assume you are in Staffordshire so probably no good for a test ride!

Canyon's are supposed to be the stiffest bikes in the peleton, which can also equate to a harsh ride but it's all subjective

They aawesome value. I've not got one yet but will be buying one within the next 2 - 3 months.
I've spoken to a few guys with the high end ones and they are all very impressed and recommend them.

I think the carbon ones are a bit ugly. Subjective obviously.

Thanks for your thoughts

Its the Ultimate CF which caught my eye
Id never really heard of them until following the Cervelo court case - I have a thing for the Cervelo R3 smile

I have no reason to buy a new frame at all
All of the ones I fancy cost serious wedge which I just cant justify

But but but but then I discovered Canyon!

I could maybe flog some kit to make an Ultimate CF easier to justify but Im curious to see if anyone has one or else an Ultimate CF SLX which I suspect will just give me a bad back

Cheers
