I'm just about to part exchange my 57 plate E92 manual M3 for a newer DCT model.

I've had my car mow for exactly 3 years and it was a month old with 500 miles when I got it (1 former speculator owner). The car is now on 59,900 miles with full history etc as you would expect with every option except TV reception and EDC.

Condition, despite the relatively high milage is exceptional with the only thing it is requiring is discs and pads all round in the next circa 6k miles.

BMW dealer has put a price on my car of 23k which seams a bit low, although I welcome comments on peoples thoughts?

Car is alpine white BTW.

Just sold my melbourne red '57 plate manual E92 with the same spec as yours but on 18s for a good bit more (4k+) than that bid. The mileage will be the issue for most as it's so close to the warranty cost increase mileage criteria.

Seems about right. There will be cheaper ones on Autotrader.

Lack of EDC hurts resale too by a grand or more. Privately it will be harder to shift as mileage puts a lot of people off ( the common misconception in many cases ).

Seems a decent bid according to this:

Depressing thread is depressing frown

As much as it pains me, being the owner of a similar car, 23k is not far off, if you consider the prep costs they will bear to stick it on AUC at say £25,995.

I'd ask him for £25k, settling at £24k. However, it also depends on what you getting off the new one. Its the cost of change that counts, not necessarily what he's giving you PX

Yes, depressing as though it is I appreciate the value has been set at a fair level. I am part exchanging it for a 2009 DCT model with 11k miles but again not EDC (not fussed) and the value they have set that at is also fair going by the glasses guide.

Its a difficult one and sadly we have all been taught to discount cars the higher their mileage.

I guess if there are cars that arent selling for £27k with 30k miles then a car with near on 60k miles is not going to shift at £25k (IMO).

I would do what Dan S says OR just keep the car.

What are you chopping it in for?

It appears that prices in Jan and Feb are low, then they stiffen up in March onwards. i.e try finding a 2007 57 M3 with 28,000 miles for £27k. I have seen some 2007 57's with similar mileage up for £35k. How do indis expect to sell these M3's? Do they think they can charge £8k premiums?

I suppose once the £27k are sold the next ones on the market will be £30k, when they sell the £35k ones will remain and will probabily sell.

Am I wrong here?

Sold my '57 plate last weekend for >27k without the compulsory 19s and in undesirable Melbourne red :-) but with EDC and every option bar TV (Manual not DCT). Leggy cars always get a hard time from the trade.

I'd say that seems fair to be honest for a car with that mileage. I'd not expect you to get much more selling privately, if at all.

DCT cars seem to be putting the price of manuals in the shade. I have been looking for a DCT for a while and I can't find anything decent under £34k

DCT came into the range later than manuals, hence newer cars

Certainly a lot of car for the money !

I'm not sure what the respective launch prices were, but I do seem to recall the E46 M3 was about £18-20k once 4 years old in a climate with lower petrol prices...so whilst the E9x depreciation seems painful, it's not been as much as the E46?

Might be wrong...

Then again, was the list price of the E46 not roughly £45,000, whereas the E92 is roughly £50,000?

I bought an e46 m3 in 2006. The prices for good, low mileage, 4 year old car was between £20 and £26k

I think I must have got my e46 m3 purchase date mixed up...I'll check back tonight on my date stamped photos...could have sworn I picked up my mint 53 plate facelift for a shade under £20k abput 4-5 years ago.

(Private purchase by the way as opposed to retail)
