is it expensive to replace car windows?

As the title suggests i need to replace the two rear side windows on a 406 estate. looking at doing it as cheaply as possible and probably getting the windows from a scrap yard.
do they need to be professionally fitted or can i buy a kit to do it?

My brother needed a new rear screen for his Saxo track car - was quoted £400! Got one from a scrappers (including boot lid) for £60.

Best bet is to go to a scrappers, you should be able to fit rear side windows yourself - set a day free.

A piece of string with a knot on the end and maybe a plastic spatula. I am sure there will be a how to video on you tube or similar. Do you have the rubber seals already?

If I were you, i`d look for a boot lid in the same colour from a scrappy, you can DIY too

Are those windows not bonded in?

By the way i mean the rear side windows on a 406 estate not the rear window. Does this change anything?

And a decent repair manual so you can find out from there rather than coming back on here every hour and asking another question.

saw a 406 estate briefly the other day. looks like they are bonded in.

Couple of tubees of Sikaflex and some swearing should do that
