Can you imagine leaving valuable cars to.........melt?.....

"valuable" to who? After Prince Jefri left, no-one who could be considered to 'own' them cared...so to them the cars had no value. (If you're a billionaire, what does ~£10-50m of cars matter?)
That said, I agree it's a crying shame...and is further evidence of the sheer arrogance of those with immense power or wealth and the toadying incompetence of those who want to serve such people, just to get 'scraps' of their power and wealth.
Depending on the condition of the chassis, bodywork (1990s italian cars in the tropics - tinworm has to be a risk) and oily bits, a good coachbuilder could recreate some genuinely unique machines from that lot...but as unique-yet-15y.o. machines with no real provenance they'd not be of interest to a true 'collector' and an ordinary monied petrolhead would probably spend that cash on something modern and more capable.

and we wonder where the money we pay at the fuel pumps goes.... it goes to these uber wealthy pricks with no grasp on reality
Incorrect. It mostly goes to our government.
The fuel itself is actually worth very little - especially if you're in the business of selling it as unrefined crude.
I actually almost shed a tear
I'd always been brought up to believe that the Sultans collection was basically the worlds best and was pleased that someone could save all these great cars. This makes me sad. Surely the current Sultan/previous/future Sultans could of seen the value in keeping a collection like this mint, its not like their skint.
Some of it sounds beyond cool too...
'About a half a dozen were coated in radar-absorbent, matte-black coatings and fitted with infrared cameras for night driving'

Actually, to be honest, blowing 14 billion in your lifetime on fun is pretty damn

Isn't Brunei a bit of a dry heat. Without some pics though it's hard to know for sure how much these cars have deteriorated.
Anyhow, forget all that. Look at the cars for sale on the link above.

The only Speciale thing about this is the overbearing lack of taste in the design.
