Peugeot 206 Coolant
Discussion
Lately my pug's been taking a while to warm up. Longer than it used to anyway. Ive checked the expansion tank and all seems ok there. So im wondering if theres a lack of antifreeze in the system. Once its warmed up its fine, the heaters are as hot as ever and dont seem to have changed at all.
So im thinking of flushing out the entire system and starting fresh, but wondering what should I put back in. Do I just add water and some generic anti-freeze or should I pop into the local Peugeot Dealer and get there pre-mix coolant? (anybody got an idea on price?)
Or does anybody have any other suggestions?
I leave it to the PH Massive!

How can I check the thermostat?
Could probably do with being changed anyway, The car hasnt been serviced properly since 56,000 and its now on 100,000. Also under the bonnets been covered in some kinda dust since before ive had it thats probably got a bit in at some point as well.
It doesnt take a rediculously long time to warm up. Before by the time id finished sorting myself out in the mornings and got to the top of the drive the temp gauge was just starting to rise. But now im at the end of my street before it even moves.

I should think it's in response to your post about it not being serviced in 50,000 miles and generally not being looked after.
Stop being tight and get it serviced.
It has been serviced in a way. But thats just me changing certain bits as and when I can afford to. Has had a complete oil and filter change in the last 5000 miles. It just hasnt had everything done in one big hit like a proper service would be. Only things left to change are spark plugs, (going to buy some this week for deffinate) and the fuel filter. Stop being tight and get it serviced.
Free bump for the evening lot.
Im off to the local(ish) Peugeot stealers tommorow, as its close to my college. Need a rocker cover gasket. Should I get some of there coolant whilst im there? Im going to flush the entire system out anyway. Service manual suggests doing so at 80,000 anyway. Or should I just fill with water and add some generic anti freeze?

What colour is your coolant at the moment? Just buy the same colour from euro car parts or GSF car parts, see if there is a branch near you. Make sure when you get the thermostat it inculdes a rubber sealing ring.
I changed a 206 1.9d thermostat a while ago the coolant was pink/red I just replaced it with same stuff.
Good luck.

Closest branches to me are Liverpool and Chester. So thats a no go unfortunatally. The header tank is absolutly covered in some dust type particle. Cant entirely tell what colour the current coolant is, but it doesnt look like it has much of a colour to it. So may have just been replaced with water at some point and questionable as to if it has antifreeze in it.
