I have got a 98 XJ8 (X308) which needs 2 front wheel bearings replaced. Dose any one know how big a job this is and if it is main dealer only type job?

I hear tell there are “Special” tools needed.

Any info or pointers would be much appreciated.

Yes, various special tools and a 10 tonne press required. The easiest option for DIY is to buy 2nd hand hubs from a breakers £50-£80 each, this only involves separating the ball joints.

Thats the main special tool, but you need a 3/4 inch (truck sized) torque wrench to drive it.
