Shouldn't he stick to reviewing rep cars?

DustyC what was so objectionable about what he wrote? Seems a little OTT in places but then again he also gave it some good points too, no? Not everybody can like them!

I tried reading it subjectively and tried to find valid remarks rather than getting the arse that someone gave a bad review. However, the guy is a complete prick, there is nothing in the review that assess the car on its technical merits or subjectively reviews it in comparison to it's peers.

In short, a 5 year old could have written a more subjective review of the car, rather than bitching about minor quibbles.

Still there is hope for me as a automotive journalist. Here's my review of some cars (this is tongue in cheek before any flames me..)

New BWM 3 Series
Ugly expensive German car, driven by w*nkers

Porche Boxstaaa
Ugly expensive German car, driven by w*nkers

New Ford Mundano
Crap.

Get the point.....

Urge... to... kill... rising!!!!

Obviously non-standard door handle's are faaaaaaar too confusing. Does the T350 not have interior lights? Is having a coccoon like sports car really a bad thing? Who puts the clutch down when starting the engine? Rapidly warming feet imply working air-con?? Choice of digital/analogue dials is a bad thing? He deserves to get sprayed with petrol by the car. Clever T350. If only it knew how to toss a match onto him. Stiff suspension? No st. "Lifeless" steering too responsive? Pffft. Comparing it with alternatives that cost twice as much?

Ah well, at least he said some nice things...

I didn't think the review was too bad. If the car played up then he's allowed to mention it.

We all know TVRs are bought with the heart and not the mind.

"So I haven't even been near a TVR for ages and I've forgotten just how hard they are to get into...It's got more hidden catches, latches, buttons and drawers than you can hide in a wizard's doohickey. Motoring editor Peter Hall and I bash, prod, stroke and thump various bits of the new T350's banana-yellow bodywork until, at last, the doors spring open"

And he claims to have driven TVR's before. If it takes you that much trouble to remember the button under the wingmirror then you are obviously a moron.

The way this guy writes reads like a sub-standard Clarkson. He's obviously still peed-off at Wheeler and co. and has an agenda with this review. A bad journalist and a bit of a methinks

Anyway, I'll leave all you "desperate attention-seekers"

Fellow TIV'ers. This article and many other don't really get to the point. I have owned my TVR for the best part of a year which does not make me an expert by any means. BUT at the end of the day I think that you are either a TVR owner or not. By that I mean that you are prepared to accept TVR for the wonderful machines that they are, for what they represent and for the highs and lows that they constantly thrust at you....or your not. I for one am a TVR owner and am delighted to own and drive one of the greatest cars in the world...so there!

well put

I love it when people pick holes in the Griff about the dodgy bits. Its the easy way to spot the people that arent really petrolheads.

The ones who are usually say "but who cares, just listen to it!"

Well I sat in a T350 for the firt time last week. Not a clue where anything was, yet it only took me 20 seconds to work out the door open button (inside the car).

Sounds like the guys a muppet, to me.

I think he totally mistook the TVR for being a BMW... poor guy... needs a dose of reality me thinks.

At least he enjoyed the exhaust note and the styling... he'd have to be deaf and blind to miss them...

Hey chaps, dont worry about it, theres always the odd one who likes to be different... theres too many positive reviews... there wouldnt be a balance if there wasnt at least one with some negativity regardless of his misunderstanding of what a blackpool rocket is all about....

i agree, but to write bits like "banging on the panels till the door finally pops open" is amateurish to say the least. tvr has had the same door opening mechanism for 10 years.to me that is just deliberately picking holes in a car/marque you told yourself to hate before you got near it.
its no wonder to me that he writes for the torygraph and not a reputable drivers mag like evo/autocar.

Good point. Surely anyone that is interested in TVRs knows where the dorr handles are.
I know people that know where the door handles are on TVRs how havent even been in one. As this blokes job is a car writer you'd imagine he would at least know that tiny detail.
It would be interesting to read his reviews of other cars. I wouldnt be surprised if he didnt like a lot of real drivers cars.

i pulled up at my local chippie not so long ago and as i got back to the car,all these kids were saying to each other "watch how he opens the door!"
if kids aged 10 know where it is then it doesn't say a lot for the ability of a motor journalist who is "banging on the panels"!

OK, the guy comes across as a twat with an axe to grind, a sort of Jigs who's been on a journalism course but................ who looks after PR for TVR??? The guy has history so for s sake don't send him out in a car that's not perfect in every respect.

Sometimes it beggars belief that TVR have a PR department at all.
