heatline boiler S24 low pressure light flashing and boiler cutting out. Have to increase pressure to 2.5 bar before boiler fires up again, when boiler at full pressure reading in the red. gauge stops at 2 bar when pressure is released (open rad valve drain water). is this a faulty gauge or should the low pressure setting be reset some how. Apart from abnormal gauge reading boiler works fine. thanks!

Sounds like the gauge is knackered.

Does it rest at 2 bar with all pressure released from the system?

What I have seen on a few boilers is the gauges are slow to react to pressure change.

So when you are topping up the pressure it takes a minute or two to register with the gauge and by that time you have added too much and the final reading is more like 3 bar instead of 1.5!

Check the thin copper pipe that feeds the gauge, these can become bent or crimped and give dodgy readings. Also try giving the gauge a few taps, sometimes works!

thanks Ricky, first thing tomorrow while the system is cold (turned off during the night) and there is daylight (I have to make sure the hose pipe I use for draining is in the drain outside other wise my neighbour will complain) I will empty the system completely and see if the gauge returns to '0'. I will also check the small pipe as you suggest. again thanks for your help.

Be careful with that pipe I mentioned, they are delicate and can easily snap at the joins.

If it turns out the gauge is not at fault, it may be a faulty low pressure sensor.

Not too familiar with Heatline boilers though.

Hi Ricy, thanks for your help. yesterday I drained the system and left things alone for a couple of hours while I went out. on return gauge stuck on just under 2.5 bar. refilled system relying on low pressure sensor you get to a stage where the boiler fires. when fired up the gauge increases by 1 bar i.e. up to 3.5 although to my mind this normal to increase by 1 bar, but its a bit scary seeing a reading in the red (red is 3 to 4 bar). so it does seem the gauge is stuck. I will try your recommendations before forking out for a replacement. again thanks for your help. p.s. sorry for delay in replying.
