What's the betting the local council will have whacked a speed (sorry, "safety") camera on it within the next 7 days .....

Notts County Council aren't too bad for revenue cameras - the only ones I can think of are at places where there have been fatal RTAs (although I am not saying that the cameras are the best solution).

Unlike Nottingham City Council who seem to be a bunch of anti-car pinko greeny bastards.

EDIT: Just realised it's the Highways Agency anyway so the above, while still true, is totally irrelevant. Bugger intelligent comment - think I'll get back to playing halflife against the IT section...

Cheers, Phil

"Archaeologists will now section through the Fosse Way to investigate how the road was built and will pass on some tips to the Highways Agency."

so it survives all these years, and now they dig part of it up.. doubtless they will be putting in a gas main, cable tv, and then water pipes in three separated incidents, and roughly patching over it with a different grade of cobbles, set either higher or lower than the existing surface

As is usual for southerners, the writer thinks that any area north of Watford is 'oop north'. Newark is not near Manchester but in the East Midlands.

Erm, I cannot see Manchester mentioned anywhere in the article

I can make a very amusing anagram out of the word "NEWARK"

(Well, amusing if you've the mental age of a 13 yr old, like me .... )

Manchester: way down south.
Notts: even further south.

Oop North: Pah.

My wife went to school in Wick (look it up!). A little to the south of there is a sign saying "Inverness and the South"

(and it's still 100 miles till you get to Inverness)

Nice to see someone with an understanding of "North"

Off to Durness for a week on 6th July.
