Hi all

Some help needed please.

I am looking to pick up a car from a dealer this weekend. I will be carrying out my own HPI however in the meantime the dealer has provided his which shows the car has outstanding finance. He has since received a fax/memo from the finance house confirming the finance has been paid and they have no interest in the car.

Obviously I will be carrying out my own HPI too but just need to know where I would stand if it comes up on mine and a, will the memo to the dealer (from finance co) suffice or will I need to contact them directly?

Any experiences or advice is welcomed.

Thanks

Jack

Without wanting to cause offence to all the honest car dealers, it is a possibility that the fax/note from the finance house could be faked.

I'd doing my own HPI check, and I'd be contacting the finance company personally to check things before I bought the car.

Unsure about the finance question – but I’m sure more informed opinions will be provided. However, good luck with the purchase and welcome to PH!

Ring up finance house and ask the very nicely to ring up HPI straight away to say they have no interest.

Then ring up HPI to verify.

When I did this it took c.15mins from calling the finance house.
