Cheap car needed for 'Top Gear' style challenge!

Hi, a few friends and I are doing a sort of 'Top Gear' type cheap car challenge at the end of April/start of May and I'm looking for a car! Must be under £300 and have tax and MOT. If anyone has a car going cheap, or knows of anything, please give me a shout.

I know quite a lot of PHers will have done similar stuff. Should be quite a good laugh. We'll be driving around the Highlands and Island for a long weekend and have various challenges, etc.

I have a 1.4 rover 45 with 80 thousand miles couple o months mot anntax till end of month . Oh and a boot that needs taped down £300 and it's yours

Tbh I wouldn't sell it to anyone because it's drinking coolant and an awful knocking noise is coming from it. Reckon it's head gasket is about to go and the timing belt etc would probably need done lol not worth tue cash haha

Yeah, it needs to be something that is mechanically ok, but can be as dented and rusty as it likes.

I wonder if the motor auction in Edinburgh might be an idea?

It might also be worth checking at some of the large car dealers to see if they have had anything traded in for peanuts that they are willing to sell to you.

Interesting. Where is this AX?

I think dealerships are usually a bit relucant to sell really cheap cars to the public and tend to just punt them to the auctions. I think they just don't want the trouble when people come back complaining about how their £300 has broken down.

Ah, probably a bit far to be honest, I live in the Borders. I know I can't be picky really but I still have until the end of April.

Lothian / Borders area would be ideal!
