2006 Mini cooper, original backbox slowly rotting away after months covered in salt.
Best/cheapest place to buy a replacement ?
Looking for a like for like replacement, not too interested in a jazzed up version, unless it's not OTT and cheap enough, it's the wife's car don't think she would be too happy !

The back box on my wife's '55' Cooper has been rusting for the last 2 or 3 years. There have not been any issues at MOT time because the box is of a double layered construction and it's only the outside layer which is flaking away. Like me, you may want to consider leaving it until such a time comes that it begins blowing.
I'm sure there must be a design problem or manufacturing error with these boxes causing them to rust so quickly. In our family we have an 11 year old Passat and a 7 year old Corsa both still on their original exhaust systems, in fact I haven't had to replace an exhaust silencer for over 20 years (and I think that was on an old Vauxhall Chevette).
