Am up to Dunkeld in a couple of days for a long weekend...anyone know of some good roads in that neck of the woods that would do for a nice Sunday morning blat...??

Atlas shows a couple of likely runs, but I'd obviously defer to local knowledge..

The Dunkeld Diamond (Dunkeld A923 > Blairgowrie > A924 > Pitlochry > A9 > Dunkeld) looks fast and flowy.

And the run from Dunkeld out to Tummel Bridge via A822 > Cablea > A826 > Aberfeldy > B846 > Tummel Bridge, then back along Loch Tummel to Pitlochry > A9 > Dunkeld, looks like a good mix

And, what's the fuzz like in that neck of the woods?

The car is a Clio 200 Cup, so it can be fast and flowing or nuggety and hump backed - car laps up either...

Cheers,

BF

I would suggest the A93, its got everything. Go to Blairgowrie and then take the road to Braemar (A93). Have a cup of tea at the Hungry Highlander and reflect on the road. Probaly worth travelling back down the road (but you will not know it) as it feels so different, thats why its worth doing in both directions, fantastic.

The fuzz are around but to get done/pulled would be unlucky, rarely have any mobile cameras around.

Enjoy.

Thanks Grar! Will Google Earth it later.

Hadn't thought about the safety camera sites - will keep an eye on that later in the week for updates etc and run my TomTom before I leave

The A826/A822 from Aberfeldy to Greenloaning is a good run, if you like nice and twisty.

You're also not a million miles away from Duke's Pass.

+1 to both those!
Did them in September
Head further in to the Trossachs as well.

I'm sure there are roadworks shutting the A822 from Dunkeld to Milton.

As an alternative take the B898 from Dunkeld to Aberfeldy.

Other road worthy of a mention is the unclassified single track from A822 at Amurlee to Kenmore.

Some interesting ( eek ) hairpin bends at Kenmore end especially the last time I was on it in deep snow!

Extend your run from Tummel Bridge on out round Loch Rannoch, also another good bit is instead of heading to Pitlcohry via Loch tummel take the B847 over the hill and down the valley to Struan. Oh and the road from Trinafour to the dual carriageway on the A9 is interesting too.

Have fun, lots of choices in that area.
