What are these like to drive as an everyday car? Not just the good days, the one's where work has been crap and you have a splitting headache etc!

Oh I have seen it compared with a Scirocco on YouTube, where as an everyday car.. it lost!

I use mine as a daily driver, mostly on the school run or to the local train station, and occasionally on my 40 mile commute. Around town the ride is firm, especially potholes/speed bumps, fuel consumption isn't brilliant although my average is 25mpg, and I worry about parking it anywhere other than my works car park. I've recently had my first service costing £190 which isn't bad, and my first set of front tyres lasted nearly 10k miles. On the upside I love it when I have to commute in it because I get home in quick time! I also go out for a blast most Sundays over the Brecon Beacons to stretch it's legs and it's brilliant. Overall, a great car which I'm very pleased with.

Do they attract a lot of attention from vandals/theives then?

25 mpg?...luxury.That mpg figure is but a distant dream to a S8 driver.

Just wondering what's the build quality like, stereo satnav etc..Also how comfy are the seats?

Sorry to jump on the thread with both feet!

Well, mine is the green so it stands out a mile! I've never had any problems but any car that attracts attention is bound to be a target to the toe rags of this world.

Build quality is typical Ford, not Audi standard but not too bad either. Ive not got any rattles. The standard Sony stereo is quite good quality with standard DAB radio which is a must have for me. I didn't go for sat nav as I think they are a rip off but the Ford sat nav does include a reversing camera but not DAB radio. Paint match on the green colour can be a problem, especially on the early models. The seats are very firm and hold you in place, I find them extremely comfortable over long journeys but I can see them not appealing to the elderly or people with bad backs as they are quite hard to get in/out of(half leather a must too).

It's a focus but a bumpy and harsh one. Seats are supportive but uncompromising (ST seats are far more comfortable over long journeys TBH). I've driven mine across Europe and found it to be bumpy and harsh but intoxicating at the same time. Depends what you're looking for? I would bet that I can get more trash/bottles for recycling in the back of a focus than a scirocco for the weekend dump run and it's fabulous around the twisties in the back of beyond. When I take my boy to an international sporting trip I think RS or Kuga but only for a second or so...

HTH, but suspect not.

ETA: had the ford badge ripped off in a station car park last year. bit disappointed by that, but in other news had no door dings or similar at all!

Had a test drive in the Ulimate green RS today.. it certainly goes where you point it!!

I didn't find it had too hard a ride, not as fast as I had expected, love the Recaro's, love the paint too.

Rear access doesn't seem too great. They told me they could do the car for £30500 but I don't think that is good enough!? It's a Lux 2 with half leather, are there any other options?

I also test drove a 4 door Subaru WRX STI today, it looks really good but I'm unsure on the drive though, and maybe it's a bit noizy too!?

30k is steep! The recent ones I've seen have been around 26-27k. Plenty of very low milers for around 23k. As for performance, they are restricted in the first 2 gears, and need a few thousand miles on the clock to really give their best. Mine has 13k and feels a lot perkier than when it was new.

They are all pre registered, but it would certainly mean they will have to better the deal!

The Mountune is inside the warranty too isn't it? Worth it?

My mistake, seems I've got my wires crossed - it's GGR who offer that tune and I'm not sure how it effects your warranty.

I'm sure Ford offer something similar though..

The tune to 350bhp will make it very fast.Apparently these things are quite easy to get to 400bhp,but the road has to be dry!

I do remember the salesman saying that there is a Ford backed remap for these cars, I actually think that it is exactly the same modification as on the RS500 itself IIRC?

I believe this is true.

Performance bargain. They are supposed to be very good cars.
