BBC Website

Starts on Sunday the 6th of March, 21:00 on BBC Two & BBC HD for 4 episodes.

Really looking forward to this series, I enjoyed the Wonders of the Solar System series, I really like his presenting style and the fact he doesn't mention the MMGW or 'Climate Change' farce either, even though it's on the BBC.

Roll on 9pm sunday thumbup

Yeah, only the 4, I was quite dissappointed when I read there were only 4 episodes, but how much do we know about the universe though?? I would rather 4 great episodes than 6 drawn out episodes, quality rather than quantity.

I'm sure it'll be great, besides 4 HD episodes will still take a massive chunk of my SkyHD box!

Carl Sagan managed over 20 quality episodes on the universe 30 years ago. We know a lot more now and could easilly fill a lot more than 4 programmes.

Having said that, Cox is very good and I am looking forward to the series.

I'll live with only 4 episodes providing they ditch the stupid 'recaps' of the previous episodes

Carl Sagan is a legend, there are lots of clips from his Cosmos series on youtube. Cox is good too but those artsy shots of him looking up angelicly at the sky with the Sun flaring the camera lens are bloody annoying mad

There were a fair number of shots like that in Cosmos too.

I'm looking forward to this too. I think Wonders of the Solar System was one of the best programmes of its type I have ever seen. Fantastic stuff, beautifully photographed and the soundtrack was excellent and really added to the experience. Well done, Brian Cox and the BBC, it was a series to be proud of.

Have Wonders of the Solar System on Blu-Ray; it's great! smile

I am looking forward to this series as i've been interested in Prof Cox's work for years now. I first saw him on a program years ago and then got hooked on his DVD commentary of the film 'Sunshine' (which he worked on as an advisor).

Woohoo! I'm not the only fan of Sagan! Weird voice you can listen to for hours, (like Feynman I suppose). He has written some cracking books. Cosmos, for one, and Demon haunted world. very good reads.

There should be artsy shots and time for contemplation in this sort of show. The dry technicalities are erm dry and technical. Its only when the audience is prompted to think about the universe and our place in it will the show have impact.

You can also watch the 6 episodes of his 1977 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures on the RI website. I think you'll need to create an account to actually watch them.
