My 306

Hi guys
Iv been on the forum for a few months now sharing the odd post here and there, however I noticed last night Iv spent hours reading and not sharing. So I bring to you my very short car history.
My first car was a mk1 fiat punto s 1.2 which I shared with my mum for 3 months before It was given to me as a present. I never took any photos of it because as you do when you have your first car, I completely and utterly ruined it by smashing it to within an inch of its life with the chav stick, huge wheels, smooth boot, spaceship rear lights, neon lights, huge drainpipe exhaust (which I did have lots of fun with on multi-storey car parks as it would set off sensetive alarms), and after hours and hours of work, I stepped back and realised it looked absoloutly awful, so cue 6 more months of using and abusing wherever I could find dirt tracks, made a great rally car in that short space of time, and when it finally ventured off to the scrapyard in the sky, the PH massive would of been proud of how id literally shaken all the chavness out of it.
My second car was a mk1 clio 1.4RT, which I bought myself for £350 from my OH's mum. It had a weeks m.o.t and she said it would probably need loads of work doing for it to pass, so having paid next to nothing I thought id take it on as a little project. How wrong she was, sailed through the m.o.t and was on the road straight away. Im ashamed to admit again I did probably ruin this car in a lot of your minds, however for a 1.4 it was pretty fast and I loved it for the year I owned it...


That is how I got the car (apart from pre-photo I took off the huge daisy tickers that were all over it) and straight away I decided the wheels needed to be sprayed black...so I did!

It stayed like this for a few months until the rust on the arches and lower half of the car looked that bad, I had a few spare cans of grey paint, so I decided to spray the bottom half of the car dark grey, then I went for spraying the wheels white...

and that is how it stayed until the rust managed to eat most of the car before its m.o.t.
I am now the proud owner of this...

Had it three months and I love it. Its a D-turbo, which compared to the last 2 is a lot faster, Its never let me down and is a great workhorse for lugging around friends and family, it may be an old 5 door french shed, but whatever anyone else thinks I think its brilliant. It currently looks like this...



It may not be as fast or flashy as most of the stuff on here, but its well looked after, kept nice and clean, appreciated, comfy, good on fuel and gets me from A to B, and all for £550 ( + a few hundred for the alloys and refurb and a few other little bits). I have more plans for the car so if anyone is intrested I will post more photos on this thread as I do them. Thanks for reading guys and hopefully Iv given most of you something to laugh at.

Nothing wrong with the car, but what on god's earth possessed you to start 'messing' with the wheels. It is what it is........a solid car.
putting white wheels on it makes it 0% better, but you have spent half the value of the car on them, You must be mad.

Bangernomics only works when you don't spaff a load of dosh on spurious crap.

Needed 4 new tyres anyway and had some alloys I planned to put on the clio before it failed an m.o.t. Found someone who had these in need of a refurb, and did a straight swap for them. So in theory I didnt spend as much on them, and anyway its not a bangernomics car as you say, I like older cars, I like spending my spare time 'messing' with them, I think it looks smart with them alloys on, and thats whats important. You can have your own opinion and im fine with that, I didnt expect most people on here to like it to be honest.

Don't come the victim, i used to own an old 306, i quite like them. they are handsome cars.

Whether you like it or not though, the car is a bangernomics candidate, when it starts rusting or something big breaks, then you will scrap it, won't you? That is the essence of bangernomics.

Personally, i wouldn't have changed the alloys, and i certainly wouldn't have painted them white, but each to their own i suppose.

Thanks for the reply guys, yeah the wheels are a bit hit and miss depending on your taste, but like you say each to there own and everyone who sees them usually has a good comment to say about them, I just like them because they are what make it MY 306, and not just A 306 if that makes sense.

A fried had one of these, and wound the fuel pump up (at least that's what he said...?) and it went like the clappers! I remember one time pulling out onto a busy dual carriageway, spinning up in 1st and carrying on well into 2nd gear! Great budget performance

My car's worth more in scrap than selling it, which means my wheels are worth the whole value of the car, and so are the brake pads, seats, steering wheel, steering rack,.....
