Refurbishing dampers? Try these guys.

Just a short bit of praise for Black Art Designs (http://www.blackartdesigns.com/).

After a recommendation I sent them my M400 dampers (which at over 6 years old were showing terrible signs both in handling and visually of being shagged) and they have done a cracking job of refurbishing them. I saw them today and they look excellent.

Moley is now sticking the car back together after a large amount of major surgery of things that have just come to the end of their life, plus a few little "upgrades", but Chris was fascinated by their explanation of how they fixed them - apparently they were on the phone to him for ages explaining what they did to each one.

Alas I currently have a cast on my leg due to an idiotic boarder that took me out last week, so I can't drive the car, but I'll let you know how they perform once that's off in about a month at a time, but on just visual inspection these guys can do some serious magic.

I assume it also works out cheaper than new dampers.

I was stunned by how they looked. I spent a good 5 minutes just looking them over

Of course. Unfortunately it's now nearly 10 years since I had my first Noble and over 6 years since the M400.

Given the way I drive my M400 I'm still surprised how well it's held up. A reasonably large bill this year, but it's just things that have corroded away and started to leak/bend etc, but still a pittance to the cost of running anything else with the same performance.

I do stand back somewhat amused about the recent threads on the M600 as I thought they had all been done to death, but am heartened by the many others where people are spending serious amounts of time, money and effort in keeping these things running.

Myself I take the lazy approach and just get Moley to do all the work, but I doubt much can dent my enthusiasm about the car. I've still to really drive anything out of ecurie that gives me the same buzz

The new MP4-12C will be perhaps the first thing to tempt me away for a keeper, but as I've yet to drive it we'll reserve judgement until I do. In the meantime there are a few other non-mainstream new cars coming this year which I've dobs on which will be interesting.

For the time being though, the M400 is staying on the driveway along with the Ur-Quattro, Elise S1 and the two BMWs.
