There are a number of good threads on this if you use the search, including:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=88635&f=6&h=0&hw=warranty
The WHA one seems to be valid still and they may be sailing through their storm.
I think it comes down to personal choice though and there will always be good and bad stories.
I assume you are about to buy a Cerbera?
Naturally if buying from a dealer or indie specialist, it should come with one.

I have just taken a Platinum (wooh!) warranty for 3 years with a £2.5k per claim limit for a shade under £750. This is with www.warrantyworks.co.uk
Can't vouch if they are any good but the T's & C's read ok and I have yet to come across a bad report. Good by default - now there is a novelty assumption.
One of my more spontaneous purchases maybe - bit like the Cerb for that matter!!!

I've got the same warranty (copycat!) It doesn't seem as though they've dealt with many TVRs yet, so their list of cover is fairly comprehensive.... Just wait till they get the bill for my new heater system (£700) and replacement dash pod (£400) in the next few weeks...
I rang them up and said "£750 seems a bit steep" in the cheeky way I always do... the guy immediately offered me it for £700. Result. The only down side is that the warranty will only pay out on one clutch claim in the lifetime of the policy.
There's no mention of a capped hourly rate in their Ts & Cs, either.

Just looked at their website. Looks promising.

I tried putting a "fake" claim through with them before signing up - rang the place that actually does it all (Olympic in Leeds)... conversation went:
Me: "My digital readout's got a load of missing lines across it so I can't read any of the text like speed, etc. Is that covered?"
WW: "I'll have to check up on that for you. What policy do you have"
Me: "I don't have my policy number to hand, but it's a Platinum cover one - I just need to see if it's covered before I go hunting for paperwork, or I'll have to have a go at fixing it myself. The dealer says some of the circuitry's fried and it needs sending back to the factory to be replaced"
WW: "Just one second... [Lists parts that're covered] ... That would come under [whatever] heading, so yes, you're covered for that"
Quite possibly the most painless phone call I've ever had to a warranty company besides purchasing one.
Thanks for the heads up on the warranty site
, £750 for 3 years does seem like a true bargain compared to main dealer prices! I may have to bite the bullit and go for it, before they realise what they.ve let themselves in for!! lol
I would think it would help considerably when selling the TVR for the next one too, having a warranty that comprehensive,

Be careful here, their limit of £2.5k say for an for an engine rebuild at the factory will leave you crying
If the engine goes, it'll still save you £1.8k over what you'd have paid if you didn't have a warranty, though. By the time they chip in their £2.5k, and you get TVR to cover £1/£2k of the cost for it being such a common problem, I wouldn't expect to pay out more than £1k.

The limited on mine is the purchase price of the car i.e. £25k which should? cover most events......
Couldn't find a policy that had such a big upper limit - I was looking for a policy for a 6 year old car after all. IMO it would take a very brave company to provide that type of cover.

How much was that Sportie i.e. is the extra limit worthwhile compared to the £750 cover for 3 yrs.
Does anyone know more details about Warranty Works (will they last the 3 years!). Also notice that air con is covered which is surprising-but maybe useful in the near future!
Folks, has anyone covered with Warranty Works (www.warrantyworks.co.uk) had to make a claim yet? If so, what was your experience?
I need to put a new warranty on the Cerb, and this looks like a good one.
Saying that, I just called them to ask a few questions and got a "welcome to BT 1571 answering service - the person you are calling is not available...." message, which seemed highly unprofessional, and made me wonder whether someone's running this from their living room!
Any advice welcome.

There's much talk in previous threads of budgeting £2-£4k per year for 'surprise' costs for the Cerbera, I'm curious to know how many people buy a warranty instead of having that sort of cash stashed for a TVR emergency.
I was testing the water with my better half last night and she wasn't keen of having up to £4k put aside "when it could mean a nice holiday" - honestly, some people!!
Circa £700 each year for a warranty would be okay though, especially if it covered it for 3 years - would certainly take the worry out of ownership.
Looking at some of the policies they don't cover cylinder head cracks, are these a problem of the AJP's? Has anyone had problems with a warranty and been left with a large bill?
Cheers guys

That company is just the place that's selling the warranties... they're based in Wales. What you actually get "on paper" is from Olympic Warranties in Leeds. They've answered the phone within 2 rings each time I've called. Oh, and the montage on the front of the policy even has a picture of a yellow Cerb on it... what more could you ask for?
