The head spec for the Griff states Ported, balanced and polished.
How do you "balance" the heads?

Probably referring to the valve springs.

Good question, I've always taken it to be left and right hand banks balanced as a pair, i.e. same volume per cylinder etc. Anyone care to elaborate.

You can cc the combustion chambers with fluid and then relieve them to make them all the same as the largest reading so as to get similar cylinder pressures. I wouldn't have thought the individual combustion chambers would be out by much in the first place but power gains become more expensive and harder to find as you move up the bhp scale. If the heads were skimmed that might upset the volumes. For both of my examples it becomes quite viable. You may loose a tiny amount of c/r but the improvements gained would compensate.
