I have had the Rainsports before and fairly impressed but what's your thoughts? Or any others obvious choices?
Oh I do about 15k+ miles a year mostly motorway, so good wear is beneficial. Thanks in advance

I've found Michelin are by far the best for wear of all tyres I've tried (Exalto PE 2s) and the grip is excellent in the dry, although maybe not always brilliant in the wet. My current ones are about half way worn and they've done 16K, compared to 8K on Pirellis (that's 8K and 80% worn) on a similar powered car. Ridiculously expensive, though, so I'll be looking at the Sports next time.

Have driven on P-zeros and wasn't impressed either but not sure if was partly not being familiar with the car, it was Peugeot 206 gti 180. Never tried on another tyre, the owner a colleague wasn't too keen either and has since changed t Pirelli P-zeros I had before them.I had T1-R's on my Nova and, in my opinion, the grip was great but I kept getting told they wear fast (which I found out as my tracking was out and the inside edge went bald quite quick

My preferred tyre used to be the Bridgestone Potenza RE720, 'til they stopped making them After I couldn't get hold of the Bridgestones, I tried the Vredesteins (Hi-Trac I think). The Vreds were far too floppy - I could feel them falling over onto their sidewalls at the rear even when I was just dawdling around roundabouts. They got quickly swapped onto my autotest rims for destruction and replaced by Yoko C-Drives, which were competent, if not amazing. Before the Yokos wore out I sold the MX5 and got the Legacy.
Incidentally, the Legacy had Bridgestone Blizzaks fitted when I got it. Despite some claims by snow tyre enthusiasts, you *can't* run a set of those all-year round on the Legacy. They'd melted within a couple of months - I bought the car in February and they didn't even last 'til the summer!
Consider the Bridgestone Turanza ER300. It's classed as a touring tyre, but it does well in a lot of the tyre tests, has a good strong sidewall, very good grip. I like them, actually preferred them to the Eagle F1-A on my Vectra - the F1-A felt mushy, and for the limited amount more grip offered and the considerably poorer wear rate of the F1-A, the ER300 was a far better choice.
on a mk1 i found any less than about 32psi (195/50 R15) they felt quite bouncy and like they wanted to 'tuck under' the rim in tighter turns. if you can soften the rear suspension, i found 32F and 30R was quite good when it was hotter, though they felt, as said above, a little squirmy, but a very good cheap progressive tyre
My wife’s Saab 9-5 is on its 2nd set of Rainsport 2’s. They work well in the dry and wet weather performance is pretty decent as you would expect from a tyre designed more for wet roads. We also had them on her previous car (a Passat), replacing Goodyear Eagles, and they felt just as good, if not better. An added bonus we noticed on both cars was that the Rainsports performed very well in the snow. The Saab will need two new front tyres at the end of this month and I think I’ll be sticking with the Uniroyals.
