Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition Makes Show Debut

In-the-carbon-fibre unveil for hardcore limited-edition LFA

This is the Lexus LFA Nurburgring edition, which finally makes its official debut a whole year after it was first announced.

Just 50 examples of the hardcore super-Lexus will be made to celebrate the company's entry in the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race - taking up 50 build slots of the 'normal' LFA production line.

The performance pack is expected to cost an extra £55k on top of the £343,000 'basic' price.

For that you get a whole extra 10bhp (that's 562bhp in total), quicker gearshift times (0.15secs) and, despite extra drag created by a proliferation of wings and spoilers, the car's 3.7secs 0-62mph time and 202mph top speed remains unchanged.

Other changes include new alloys wheel designs, grippier tyres, and uprated suspension.

There are four colours available - Black, Whitest White, Orange and a Matt Black that will cost £15k.

Customers will also be treated to private parking at the 'Ring, a high-speed ride-along on the Nordschleife, a branded Nurburgring jacket and a one-year track pass. Not the sort of ancillary extras you get when you buy a brand-new Kia, then...

Whilst I love the design and technology that's gone into this I can't help feeling the price is a little bit outrageous. Especially in the face of the conspicuous bargain that is the GT-R, I'm sure the LFA will significantly outperform it but the GT-R probably provides 80% of the experience for a fraction of the cost.

Nice but when you think about other cars you can get for £350k it just seems way to over priced

so they put s**t wheels on it and other token crap and charge 55k. Fools and there money are easily parted. Jumping on the bandwagon of flogging tat to moronic "new money" tards while there not wazzing money up against masonry abominations.

Or the price of an Evora and a nice little Holiday.
And only £15k for the matt black paint too.

This has got to be the most poor taste special edition ever. As part of the 'experience' do they hit a Golf head on on the approach?

Fvcking love the LFA... Now it's got whole a lot better. Awesome looking thing - this Nurburgring Edition looks like it could stroll straight onto an FIA GT grid! Right up my rue.

Not so keen on that ludicrous price tag though! It's a m/billionaire's plaything - not an 'only-Supercar' purchase.

What would you rather spend 400K on? The LF-A or 200K on the new Lamborghini Aventador and the rest on coke and hookers?

I know what I would, and it's not on the Toyota. wink

Nice, but it kinda looks like a really over-priced modern day Supra.

Actually, I'm not turned on by that new Lambo - I much prefer the pseudo GT racer looks of the LFA N.E... Lexus for me, I'm afraid.

Therefore, the hookers can finish thelmselves off biggrin

Someone looking to buy their first or only super car is not the target market of the LFA. I would expect every LFA customer already has at least one (and in most cases many) mid-engined Italian V12 super cars. The target customer already has a Lambo and Zonda in the garage.

I don't believe that the hyper-rich even buy all these cars that we envisage they buy - they probably buy a Roller and a Porsche Cayenne and be done with it. I don't see what practical advantage this has at any point over a lesser practical performance car. If you want to blend in, surely you buy a 911 Turbo, not an LFA.

Rich people and blend in - there's an oxymoron wink

ASAIK the entire production run of LFAs has been sold. There are plenty of people in the world wealthy enough to buy a whole fleet of LFAs let alone 1.

Besides which, even at £340k it's a bargain vs the £1.5m odd it costs to make.

Personally, I think it's an epic car.
