Flight search tools - too precise. Any more flexible ones?

Is there a search facility anywhere for flights that doesn't require precise destination and arrival inputting?
Was saying to the O/H last night, it'd be nice to be able to see if we could get a cheap flight somewhere a bit warmer for the weekend, but the only way to do it seems to be to search for specific destinations from a specific airport.
Now we're in the south-west, so could fly from Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth or even Newquay or Bournemouth at a push. And we'd like to perhaps go to the Med, South of France, Spain, Italy, doesn't matter, just somewhere warm and not too far.
So what I'd like to do is put in departure as anywhere South West, and destination as anywhere France/Spain/Italy (for example). If it then came up with a list of flights in price order we could maybe see a cheap flight from Bristol to Cannes and think that'll do and book it.
To actually search every outgoing airport for every potential destination is impossible.
Must be someone that does this surely?
