I had to drop off my Mini Cooper S which I've had since May 2010. The car is just approaching the 10k mark, and I've noticed a horrible noise from the clutch. Also the biting point is ludicrously high, leading me to assume the clutch is fked?

Anyone else had any issues, seriously a clutch in twelve months?

Herd of quite a few of them failing well before their time but normally closer to 20K. However without know what noise it is making it could be a slave cylinder, or bearing... You could very well be one of those people with a new clutch before 20K. I am not sure if the problem plagues the cars which the engine was designed for?

Do not be surprised if BMW Mini want to charge you for a new clutch if that's what it turns out to be.

I recently bought a 2006 R56 Cooper S and the clutch was ridiculously high... however, both examples that I test drove were the same, so at the point of the sale I thought it was normal.

Drove the car for a few weeks and decided it was unacceptable, so went back to the dealer where they changed it under warranty (approved used) no questions asked. So maybe it is a known problem. FYI this was at 32k miles.

Our 2008 8k mile coopers needed a new clutch under warranty, seems there are issues here...
