Halogen celing lamp help
Discussion
Quick one,
Just moved in and this has happened :

Three lights that were previously working have just died. I've put new bulbs in, and swapped the working ones with the non working ones, and it's not the bulbs.
These types of lamps are a mystery to me.
The switch is a dimming memory rocker affair, if I take it off will there be a fuse under there that's popped ? Or is it more likely to be the connection between the working and non working lamps ?
I really don't want to be ripping the ceiling to bits, we haven't finished unpacking yet ....
Thanks in advance.

Are they 240V halogens or low voltage? If they're low voltage it could be that a transformer has died - it's possible that you've got more than one transformer each serving two or three of the lights.
If this is the case and you're lucky then you might find that the transformer is loose in the ceiling above one of the lights and can be pulled down through the hole for replacement. If you're unlucky then the transformer could be screwed to one of the joists above the ceiling and you'll need to lift some floorboards to find it.
Guess how I know this. I was unlucky....
