I was wondering if anyone knew what a constant flashing gear number indicates on a 2005 SMG II gearbox? The car currently selects gears but I am obviously worried that whatever problem there may be could get worse...
The owners manual doesnt give any help on this matter and the main SMG warning light is not on.

The car has done 51k and hasnt had a clutch done. Bonnet is closed, I dont believe thecar would select a gear if it wasnt.

You can check the sensors by getting diagnostics done by a local Independent BMW Workshop

I'm looking out of my office window and I can see that my bonnet is not closed properly...

I had the bonnet opened before and I couldnt move the car, its a bit strange but hopefully it will be a very simple fix.

Thanks for your help

Literally as soon as I'd driven my brand new M3 off the forecourt the SMG light started flashing.

I wasn't expecting to have to slam the bonnet in my first minute of ownership, but it fixed the problem straightaway! hehe
