I've two fresh plastered rooms, both of which will have their floors sanded/oiled. I'm thinking the order t do the work is:

Mist coat ceiling/walls
First coat ceiling/walls
Second coat ceiling/walls
Sand floor
Wax floor.

Is that right?

I am assuming that the walls / ceiling are different colours. I always get all the prep done and work from the top down.

I would get all the prep / sanding done and cover the floor.
Then fully mist coat the room.
Then complete the painting on the ceiling - all coats.
Then check for any large splodges on the walls and address them and complete the painting on the walls.
Then uncover, check and wax the floor.
Then have a large beer.

If you paint walls before the ceiling, you risk getting paint splashes on them as you paint the ceiling - it's a bit like washing the body of the car before the roof - all the crap runs onto your clean doors etc.

Yup! Sand and finish the floor before decorating. Just make sure of having plenty of dustsheets to protect the floor once done. Perhaps do any preparation to ceiling, walls and WW prior to sanding floor, so as to keep dust to a minimum.
