LPG on an already economical car

LPG only seems to be fitted to gas guzzlers. Why not fit it to an already economical car for extra low costage motoring?

Id saying because its much easier to make the money back on the initial outlay when you have a lower mpg

Value for money usually i would have thought. A small eco car usually equals reasonably cheap in the first place to buy where as on a big expensive gas guzzler the outlay for LPG doesnt seem as significant. I have seen a couple of small cars with LPG though, just do a search on Autotrader and one or two will pop up.

I've seen a few corsas and 106s with LPG kits. I think they where used commercially so obviously the business that ran them considered it worthwhile.

My Suzuki has LPG... About 40% better than petrol. Saying that, it does seem to munch the petrol.

I see lots of the old shape smart cars converted to LPG in central London. I cant see the benefit (unless its c/charge getout?), our 1.0 fortwo costs so little to run I dont even notice petrol costs!

The specialist I used to do some work ours did say the LPG killed the old 3cyl engines but people fit the lpg kits anyway...

The local Echo used to run their Mk II Escorts on LPG back in the 80s - I seem to reacll the transition was more obvious and the loss in power more noticeable though only went in one a couple of times.

This. Until 2012 anyway when the rules change again....

They have already partially changed, any new conversions are excluded from any CC concessions.

I run a LPG car so am always looking.
Saw a Toyota Iygo this morning with an LPG filler.
Must be pennies to run.
