I had a new T5 (CR quaife internals etc) gearbox built by one of the most "reputable" builders.

It is now correct, after a further £600 bill.

So, maybe not a straight forward one to answer...

It can only go together one way, if you screw it up then send it off to get rebuilt, you got nothing to loose

True but if the clearances are out, you could wreak it and have to replace everything.

I'm confused (again)

Quaife tell me that the ONLY place i can get one of their gearsets is from CTS.

CTS price the gearset at over £1k.

But others are telling me they are getting gearboxes rebuilt with quaife internals for £500-600

Some specialists have stocks of quaiff internals at discounted prices.

regards building the box itself. if you haven't invested in some specific specially made tooling then you won't even be able to dismantle the box without causing damage. Ask your specialist gearbox builder if they re-use 5th gear for example or can dismantle it without damage??

So I'm not the only one then everyone told me "oh, its only about £...(insert a figure minus a nought here)", and when i've priced it up the best i came up with was around £1,400 real world pounds
