Saab 9-3 2.8T - are they really that average?

Spotted a 9-3 for sale the other day, and didnt realise they came with the GM 2.8 Turbo engine as an option. Its the 250BHP that also found its way into other models, such as the Vectra etc. I know its a bit thirsty and that emissions put it in the high-tax bracket, but is the 9-3 as average as all the reviews say?

Looking for anyone who has owned one of these - worth looking elsewhere? Seem very cheap for the age / mileage / spec.
